    AN ITALIAN TRANSPORT AIRCRAFT OF THE UNITED NATIONS ARRIVED IN LEOPOLDVILLE, SEPT 16, WITH ONE OF THE IRISH SOLDIERS WOUNDED IN THE BATTLE FOR KATANGA BETWEEN THE UNITED NATIONS AND THE FORCES OF PRESIDENT TSHOMBE. THE SOLDIER WAS PUT ABOARD THE AIRCRAFT IN ELIZABETHVILLE BUT UN OFFICIALS WOULD NOT RELEASE HIS NAME OR WHERE HE HAD RECEIVED HIS INJURY.

    AT LEOPOLDVILLE AN AMBULANCE CREW REMOVED HIM FROM THE ITALIAN PLANE ON A BLOOD-STAINED STRETCHER. HE APPEARED TO BE EITHER ASLEEP OR UNCONSCIOUS. FROM THE AIRPORT HE WAS TAKEN TO THE UNITED NATIONS HOSPITAL.

    ALL THE UNITED NATIONS WOUNDED WHO CAN STAND THE FLIGHT ARE BEING BROUGHT TO LEOPOLDVILLE FROM ELIZABETHVILLE. IN ORDER TO KEEP THEIR IDENTITY A SECRET THE HOSPITAL PLANES USUALLY ARRIVE AT NIGHT.
