HE WON THE RE-RUN OF THE LAST HEAT. THE HEAT WAS RE-RUN AFTER A SPILL INVOLVING NORDIN AND TREVOR HEDGE (BRITAIN), WHO WAS INJURED IN THE CRASH.

    AT THE START OF THE FINAL HEAT, NORDIN AND BRIGGS WERE TIED AS LEADERS WITH 12 POINTS EACH. FOURTH CONTESTANT WAS NIGEL BOOCOCK (BRITAIN). UNTIL THE CRASH THAT ENDED THE FIRST HEAT, BRIGGS WAS LEADING. WHEN THE HEAT WAS RE-RUN, BRIGGS AGAIN TOOK THE LEAD, BUT NORDIN CAUGHT UP AT THE END OF THE FIRST LAP. AFTER HE CROSSED THE FINISH LINE FIRST, FELLOW SWEDES PRESENT TOSSED HIM TRIUMPHANTLY INTO THE AIR AND CAUGHT HIM.
