    FORMER GREEK MINISTER ANDREAS PAPANDREOU ARRIVED IN PARIS TODAY TUESDAY) FROM ATHENS WITH HIS FAMILY. MR. PAPANDREOU, SON OF FORMER PRIME MINISTER GEORGE PAPANDREOU, TOLD REPORTERS HE WOULD MAKE A STATEMENT WITHIN THE NEXT TWO DAYS BUT REFUSED TO SAY ANYTHING ELSE.

    MR. PAPANDREOU, AGED 48, WAS GRANTED A PASSPORT YESTERDAY (MONDAY) AFTER BEING RECENTLY RELEASED FROM PRISON UNDER AN AMNESTY.

    THE FORMER MINISTER WAS ARRESTED AFTER THE ARMY TAKEOVER IN GREECE LAST APRIL AND CHARGED WITH HIGH TREASON FOR ALLEGED INVOLVEMENT IN THE ASPIDA PLOT. HE HAD ASKED THE GREEK GOVERNMENT FOR PERMISSION TO GO TO A SCANDINAVIAN COUNTRY OR TO THE UNITED STATES TO RESUME HIS CAREER AS PROFESSOR OF ECONOMICS.

    GREEK FRIENDS OF MR. PAPANDREOU, WHO WAS ACCOMPANIED BY HIS MOTHER, HIS AMERICAN BORN WIFE MARGARET AND THEIR THREE CHILDREN, SAID THE FAMILY WAS STAYING PRIVATELY IN THE FRENCH CAPITAL AND THEIR IMMEDIATE PLANS WERE TO REST.

    MR. PAPANDREOU TOLD REPORTERS IN A BRIEF STATEMENT: "IN TWO DAYS I SHALL SPEAK ABOUT THE DRAMA OF MY COUNTRY. MY SADNESS FOR LEAVING MY BELOVED LAND IS TEMPERED BY THE FREEDOM I HAVE FOUND IN FRANCE, A HOSPITABLE COUNTRY."
