  • Description

King Constantine of Greece today (Wednesday) gave newsmen their first glimpse of his new son, Prince Nicholaos, born to Queen Ann Marie in a Rome clinic a week ago. The newsmen were invited to meet the new prince at the King's villa in Rome.

Prince Nicholaos is the first child born to the Royal couple since the King fled Greece in December, 1967, after an abortive counter-coup against the Army-backed Government.

The new prince, with a four-year-old sister Princess Alexia, and a two-year-old brother Prince Paul, is second in line to the Greek throne.

Cameramen and photographers trampled rose bushes and flower beds under foot as they clambered to get pictures of the young prince and the Royal family.

King Constantine several times asked the newsmen, in English and Italian, to move back as they crowded too close to the week-old prince. But the tiny prince smiled through it all.
