    Jurists and economic experts from fifteen countries met in Accra, Ghana on Monday (11 February) to discuss the proposed formation of the West African Economic Community.

    Nigeria, Liberia, Dahomey, Togo, Guinea and Guinea-Bissau, and nine other West African countries, were represented at the conference, which will continue for five days.

    The conference will consider a draft treaty for the proposed association based on principles and objectives agreed at a meeting in Lome, Togo in December.

    The conclusive of the conference will be submitted to a ministerial meeting to be held in Niamey, Niger next March.
