Background: H.R.H. Princess Irene, second daughter of the Queen of the Netherlands, visited the 13th Battalion, Fusillier Guards, called the Princess Irene Regiment, at Schalkhaer on the 4th of December.
After inspecting a guard of honour, she saw soldiers of the regiment at work and, before she left, was presented with a dinner service which was given to her by the battalion on her 19th birthday on 5th August this year (when she was on a holiday).
