Background: A group of 63 paintings by artists of the Soviet Union goes on tour of Eastern Canada.
They will be seen at art galleries in Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto. The group, which has aroused favourable comment wherever it's been seen, was selected by the Soviet Ministry of Culture in Moscow. The works were chosen as representative of current art trends in that country. Soviet music and literature have long been known and loved by Canadian people, but the graphic arts are unfamiliar to art lovers here. The exhibition is allowing many to enjoy a new pleasure.
