    SEVEN POLICEMAN WERE REPORTED INJURED IN BRUSSELS TONIGHT (SUNDAY) IN CLASHES BETWEEN POLICE AND ANTI-NUCLEAR DEMONSTRATORS. THE DEMONSTRATORS HAD TRIED TO FORCE THEIR WAY INTO THE AMERICAN EMBASSY AFTER MARCHING THROUGH THE CENTRE OF THE CITY.

    ABOUT 10,000 PEOPLE TOOK PART IN THE MARCH. ABOUT 200 OF THEM THEN TRIED TO ENTER THE EMBASSY THROUGH A CORDON OF POLICE.

    THE DEMONSTRATORS USED WOODEN SLOGAN-BOARDS AS WEAPONS, AND THE POLICE USED THEIR TRUNCHEONS TO DISPERSE THEM.

    ONE OF THE DEMONSTRATORS WAS ARRESTED AND ORDER WAS RESTORED AFTER ABOUT QUARTER OF AN HOUR. MOST OF THE INJURED POLICEMEN WERE SUFFERING FROM CONCUSSION.

    THE MARCHERS CARRIED BANNERS WITH SLOGANS SUCH AS "NO ATOMIC ARMS IN BELGIUM," "TOTAL DISARMAMENT", AND "END ALL NUCLEAR EXPLOSIONS." SOME SAT DOWN IN THE STREET AT ONE POINT, AND OTHERS WORE GASMASKS AS A PROTEST AGAINST THE USE OF GAS IN VIETNAM.
