  • Description

Sharing an almost universal 'heat-wave', citizens of Tokyo, Japan July 17, were treated to an exhibition of 'cool' art. Chefs were invited to carve statues from 300 pound blocks of ice...in forty minutes.

Magnificent creations of the Japanese Royal wedding carriage-swan-deer-polar bear-ships and fish took shape as the ice chips flew from beneath the perspiring artists chisels.

The competition, is an annual mid-summer event organised by the Tokyo Ice Manufactures Association in an effort to sell more ice.
