    REEL 1 Naval vessel leaving Durban Harbour for patrol and depth charging of Margate area, half-a-mile from coast. Vessel at sea. Last section Helicopter in final stages of preparation for week-end flight. Intention is that Helicopter will fly over coast and carry out tests and ascertain what extent can assist in combating menace of sharks. Will demonstrate uses including lifting of nets and observation of sea bed etc. (more details will follow on Monday with subsequent reels)



    REEL 2 Scottsburgh: Scene of tragic death of married man, referred to on press cutting attached to original of dope sheet. Shots include deserted beach with people hathered on rocks. Fisherman with heavy duty line fishing for shark. Spotters with field glasses on look out. Close up of groups. Spotter with gun. A second fisherman prepared his trace and bais to be taken out on a kite to gain further distance from shore. Jite taking out line. Deserted beach with two children playing at waters edge. Signs displayed. "Bathing Prohibited" and "Beware of Sharks".




    Initials


    Balance of material going forward on Monday including Helicopter in flight and on survey duty, during demonstration flight. Also shark fishing (weather permitting) and on Monday morning the lifting of the shark nets. Every endeavour will be made to obtain BCU of sharks.
    Please note that these attacks have been made NOT at Durban but as far down the coast as one hundred miles. See shetch on attached press cutting.
