Revealing the devastating power of his punches, S./Africa's Empire Flyweight champion, Dennis Adams, retained the title easily before 5,500 in Durban's Ice-drome tonight, knocking out Australian challenger Warner Batchelor in the second round.

Adams had Batchelor down for three counts in the first round and landed the knock-out blow - a perfectly delivered knock-out blow to the temple - in the 23rd second of the second round.

Right from the first minute of the fight it was obvious that the challenger was not in the same class as the holder, but few expected the fight to end so quickly.

Dropped at the end of the first round, Batchelor was wandering aimlessly around the ring in a daze when the bell saved him. There was no escape from Adams' furious punching, however, at the start of the second round.
