THE MEN AND THEIR COMMANDING OFFICER, LIEUTENANT-COLONEL CARTER, WERE GREETED BY THE BRITISH HIGH COMMISSIONER, SIR GEOFREY DE FREITAS, AN MR. PETER KOINANGI, KENYA'S MINISTER FOR PAN AFRICAN AFFAIRS.

    THE MEN, OF 41 ROYAL MARINE COMMANDO, WERE SENT TO REINFORCE THE BRITISH GARRISON IN KENYA FOLLOWING THE MUTINY OF NAIROBI, ON FRIDAY. MEN OF THE ROYAL HORSE ARTILLERY, SUPPORTED BY ARMOURED CARS, CRUSHED THE MUTINY AFTER A BRIEF SKIRMISH IN WHICH ONE AFRICAN WAS KILLED.

    MEANWHILE, BRITISH TROOPS ARE GUARDING ALL KEY POINTS IN KENYA IN A BID TO AVERT FURTHER TROUBLE. EVEN AS THE ROYAL MARINES DISEMBARKED FROM THEIR PLANE, SCOUT CARS OF THE SCOTS GUARDS PATROLLED THE AIRFIELD AND ARMED POLICE WERE ON DUTY AROUND THE AREA.
