Background: Niger's Defence Minister, Mr. Noma Kaka, today (Monday) arrived in West Germany on a four-day visit and signed an aid agreement with his West German counterpart, Herr Gerhard Schroeder.
Under the agreement, West Germany will provide Niger with aid over a limited period to the amount of two million deutschmarks, to include armoured cars, transport aircraft, signalling equipment and other items for the internal security and stability of the country. The equipment provided under the agreement will be to aid Niger's programme of military training.
During his visit, Mr. Kaka was due to tour West German military training establishments, the Daimler-Benz motor factory in Stuttgart and the Hamburg Flugzeugbau Aircraft Manufacturing Company works near Hamburg.
On his arrival today, Mr. Kaka was greeted by Herr Schroeder and military and government officials.
