  • Description

Two genuine Chinese junks were demonstrated on a lake in Hamburg, West Germany, March 23rd. They were imported from China by a wealthy Hamburg shipowner and shipbroker, and cost 40,000 Deutsch Marks each. The two vessels - bringing an unaccustomed oriental touch to the city - attracted hundreds of Hamburg citizens to watch with fascination the sailing manoeuvres on the lake.

"Sai Sze" and "Chiu Kwan", as the junks are named, have blue sails, and will sleep four persons. The shipowner who imported them hopes they will become popular with sailing enthusiasts. He has already sold both "Sai Sze" and "Chiu Kwan".
