    TODAY (FRIDAY) SEES THE END OF THE FIRST WORLD ANTI-COMMUNIST LEAGUE CONFERENCE - MEETING OVER THE LAST WEEK IN TAIPEI, TAIWAN. SEVENTY COUNTRIES AND THIRTEEN ANTI-COMMUNIST ORGANISATIONS WERE REPRESENTED WHEN THE FIVE-DAY CONFERENCE OPENED ON 25 SEPTEMBER.

    WHEN THE CONFERENCE OPENED ON MONDAY, THE LEAGUE WELCOMED A FURTHER 21 NATIONS AND ORGANISATIONS. THESE INCLUDED ARGENTINA, BRAZIL, THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC, ECUADOR, PARAGUAY, INDONESIA, SWEDEN, MALAWI, AND MEXICO.

    THE TEMPORARY CHAIRMAN OF THE LEAGUE, MR. KU CHENG-KANG, SAID THAT THE LARGE GATHERING WAS 'FIRM EVIDENCE THAT THE STRUGGLE FOR FREEDOM AND AGAINST COMMUNIST ENSLAVEMENT HAS REACHED A NEW TURNING POINT'. MR. KU IS ALSO CHAIRMAN OF THE ASIAN PEOPLE'S ANTI-COMMUNIST LEAGUE.

    GENERALISSIMO CHIANG KAI-SHEK WAS FORCEFUL IN HIS APPEAL TO THE FREE WORLD TO RECOGNISE THE 'WICKED NATURE OF COMMUNISM' AND TO DISPERSE WITH APPEASEMENT AND PRO-COMMUNIST PREJUDICE.

    A MESSAGE FROM POPE PAUL WAS READ BY ARCHBISHOP LO KUANG OF TAIPEI. IN IT, THE POPE SAID THAT CATHOLICISM DID NOT ONLY OPPOSE COMMUNISM FROM A RELIGIOUS STANDPOINT, BUT ALSO FROM THE SIDE OF HUMANITY.
