  • Description

The Girl Guide movement in Kenya was given a new lease of life on Thursday August 4 with the opening of an international camp at Nairobi's Rowallen Camp.

the camp, which has brought together three-hundred guides and girls scouts from nineteen countries, was officially opened by Kenya's vice-president, Daniel Arap Moi.

The largest contingents came form Denmark and Britain where Guides are highly regarded and the movement has a long history.

The celebrations will have many and varied activities. Among other things, they'll visit the animal orphanage and game park and take part in an "Adventure Day" during which film on wildlife conservation and African will be shown.

Above all, the jubilee camp is expected to revitalise the movement's fading appeal in Kenya.
