Background: Visnews filmed the Philatelic Exhibition in Brussels on Dec 19. Some 30 countries contributed to the exhibition which aimed at showing 1958 year's events in stamps. Main theme was the World Fair.

Mr. Lepingle, President of the Brussels Philatelic Society opened the exhibition. The Mayor of Brussels, Mr. Cooremans, handed a silver plaque to the Belgian Jean Van Noten, for the most beautifully designed stamp on the theme of the World Fair. Van Noten, who lives in New Jersey (N.Y.), U.S.A., had come over to receive the award in person.

Other prize-winning stamps came from the Vatican, Hungary and Czechoslovakia.

Among the stamps on show were the one issued by the United Nations on the 10th Anniversary of the Declaration of Human Rights, and a series of East German stamps withdrawn on the day of issue after a Government decision that they were "anti-democratic". The value of these last stamps rose more than a 100 times the postage value to GBP3.11. after the withdrawal.
