    SOMALIA BROKE OFF RELATIONS AFTER A DISPUTE WITH THE BRITISH GOVERNMENT OVER THE FUTURE OF THE NORTHERN FRONTIER DISTRICT OF KENYA, WHICH SOMALIA CLAIMS.

    THE EVACUATION OF BRITISH EMBASSY STAFF BEGAN ON TUESDAY, AND CONTINUED YESTERDAY (WEDNESDAY). SEVERAL LEFT ABOARD AN AIRCRAFT OF ADEN AIRWAYS WHICH LANDED AT NAIROBI, KENYA. THEY HAD STRICT INSTRUCTIONS NOT TO MAKE ANY STATEMENTS TO NEWS REPORTERS.

    ALSO AMONG THE PASSENGERS WAS MOHAMOUD ABDI ARRALEH, THE FORMER SOMALI AMBASSADOR IN LONDON, WHO IS RETURNING TO THE BRITISH CAPITAL TO WIND UP HIS COUNTRY'S AFFAIR BEFORE LEAVING FOR GOOD.

    ALL BRITISH EMBASSY STAFF ARE UNDER ORDERS FROM THE SOMALI GOVERNMENT TO LEAVE THE COUNTRY WITHIN 15 DAYS. SOMALI AUTHORITIES HAVE ALSO BANNED ITS CITIZENS FROM ENTERING BRITISH TERRITORIES.
