    Yugoslavia's Prime Minister, Mr. Dzemal Bijedic, arrived at Dacca International Airport on Sunday (25 March) for a four-day official visit. He was welcomed at the airport by the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and Foreign Minister Dr. Kamal Hussain. The Yugoslav Prime Minister was accompanied by his wife.

    The airport ceremonies completed, Mr. Bijedic and his wife, accompanied by Sheikh Mujib, drove four miles in a motorcade to the Rastrio Atihi Bhaban (the State Guest House) where the Yugoslav guests stayed.

    Later in the day Mr. Bijedic had a short meeting with Sheikh Mujib after which he told newsmen that there were good prospects for developing trade and economic relations between the two countries. He added that discussions on commercial relations with Bangladesh was the main reason for his visit, and that it was for this reason that he was accompanied by his Minister for Economic Affairs. Speaking for his Government, the Yugoslav Prime Minister said that he hope the international community -- especially the developed counties --would provide the necessary assistance to help re-build Bangladesh out of the chaos and destruction wrought during the war of liberation.

    In the evening Mr. Bijedic and his wife were received by the President of Bangladesh, Abu Sayee Choudhury.

    Later that day Egypt's Foreign Minister, Mohammed Hassan al Zayyat, was also welcomed at Dacca International Airport. Mr. Zayyat was on a tour of several countries in the region. He began his tour with a three-day stay in India, leaving on 11 March for Peking via Hong Kong. His trip also included stops in Pakistan, Iran, Iraq and Syria.

    Both visitors arrived at a time when Bangladesh was in festive mood. For, on 26th March, the country celebrated the second anniversary of Bangladesh's declaration of independence from Pakistan.

    Mr. Bijedic, who was accompanied on this visit by his wife, was welcomed at the airport by the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Bangladesh's Foreign Minister, Dr. Kamal Hussain, was also at the airport to greet the distinguished guests.

    After the initial presentations were over the Yugoslav Prime Minister inspected a Guard of Honour mounted by the Bangladesh armed forces. Later in the day Mr. Bijedic had a short meeting with Sheikh Mujib after which he told newsmen that there were good prospects for developing trade and economic relations in general between the two countries. The airport ceremonies over, Mr. Bijedic and his wife, accompanied by Sheikh Mujib, drove four miles to the State Guest House where the Yugoslav guests stayed.

    In the evening Mr. Bijedic and his wife were received by the President of Bangladesh, Abu Sayeed Choudbury. The President thanked Mr. Bijedic for the support which Yugoslavia had given all Bangalees during their struggle for independence.
