    THE BELGIAN MINISTER OF DEFENCE, MR. CHARLES POSWICK, WAS MADE AN HONORARY AMERICAN PARATROOPER ON SATURDAY AFTER HE TOOK PART IN A PARACHUTE JUMP OVER FORT BRAGG, NORTH CAROLINA. MR. POSWICK VISITED FORT BRAGG DURING AN EIGHT-DAY TOUR OF AMERICAN MILITARY INSTALLATIONS.

    IT WAS NOT MR. POSWICK'S FIRST PARACHUTE JUMP. IN FACT IT WAS HIS 375TH. THE BELGIAN DEFENCE MINISTER IS A RESERVE OFFICER IN A BELGIAN PARACHUTE BATTALION.

    HE MADE THE JUMP ON SATURDAY WITH LIEUTENANT GENERAL BRUCE PALMER JR. THE COMMANDING OFFICER OF FORT BRAGG, WHO LATER PINNED THE "SILVER WING" BADGE ON MR. POSWICK AND PRESENTED HIM WITH THE CERTIFICATE WHICH MADE HIM AN HONORARY AMERICAN PARATROOPER.

    MR. POSWICK ARRIVED IN AMERICA LAST WEDNESDAY AND HAD TALKS WITH SECRETARY OF DEFENCE, MR. McNAMARA AND THE SECRETARY OF STATE, MR. RUSK, BEFORE BEGINNING HIS TOUR OF MILITARY BASES. HE IS DUE TO RETURN TO BELGIUM ON THURSDAY (10 NOVEMBER).

    MR. POSWICK IS ACCOMPANIED ON THE TOUR BY A NUMBER OF HIGH RANKING OFFICERS OF THE BELGIAN ARMED FORCES, INCLUDING LIEUTENANT GENERAL ULISSE DESSART, CHAIRMAN OF THE BELGIAN ARMED FORCES GENERAL STAFF.
