    EAST GERMAN SKIERS TOOK THE FIRST TWO PLACES IN THE 15TH AUSTRIAN-GERMAN SKI JUMPING COMPETITION AT OBERSTDORF, IN AUSTRALIA, YESTERDAY (FRIDAY). IN ALL, 72 JUMPERS FROM 15 COUNTRIES COMPETED.

    DIETER NEUENDORF WON THE EVENT FROM FELLOW EAST GERMAN PETER LESSER. IN EQUAL THIRD PLACE WERE BJORN WIKOLA, OF NORWAY, AND VEIKKO KANKKONEN, OF FINLAND.

    NO RECORDS WERE BROKEN. HEAVY RAIN THROUGHOUT THE DAY MADE THE SNOW ON THE JUMP "SLOW" AND THE SNOW BELOW THE JUMP "SLOSHY" -- ALL TRICKY FOR COMPETITORS.

    OTHER COUNTRIES REPRESENTED AT THE EVENT INCLUDED FRANCE, SWEDEN, POLAND, YUGOSLAVIA, ITALY, THE SOVIET UNION, CANADA AND JAPAN.
