Background: The third meeting of the Islamic Council started in Khartoum on Tuesday (23 February). The Council Was headed by the Honourable Chairman, Aboud Jumble Mwinyi, Vice-President of Tanzania. Also present was the Vice-President of Sudan, General Omar Mohamed Tayeb. The Council is strongly supported by the Saudi Arabians, and Prince Mohammad Faisal - Chairman of the Islamic Bank of Faisal, attended this meeting to address delegates. He told them the future of Islam was bright and that co-operation and planning was needed among the member countries. General Omar Tayeb also addressed the meeting, and Mr. Mwinyi in his speech accused South Africa and Israel of causing most of the world's trouble. He then thanked the governments of Iraq, Sudan, Egypt and Saudi Arabia for their assistance.
