Background: With the onset of Monsoon rains, whatever little communications are there in the Himalayan country of Nepal are cutoff due to landalides on the hill roads. Nepal is a completely hill country and this film was taken as the VISNEWS camera crew were trying to go into the interior of the country. The main highway between India and Nepal, "TRIBHUVAN RAJ PATH" built by India under the Colombo plan, is blocked at several paints by heavy rocks that have fallen from the hill sides due to incessant rains. The hill side is very soft and with rain in comes down.
With the fall of this big rock the road will remain blocked for several days as it won't be possible to push the same down the hill side, which night bring further landalides down below. This rock would be broken by the slow process of boating by men. It cannot be blasted. All this brings great hardships to the people of Nepal and brings the trade at standstill, in many respects.
