Miss Margaret Kenyatta, a daughter of President Kenyatta, was re-elected to a second term of office as Mayor of Nairobi yesterday (Wednesday).

In a report at the end of her first term of office, Miss Kenyatta said that unemployment was the city's greatest problem. SYNOPSIS: A second term of office at Nairobi Town Hall for the Mayor, Miss Margaret Kenyatta. A daughter of the Kenyan President, Miss Kenyatta was re-elected to her post on Wednesday.

In her report on her first term of office, Miss Kenyatta told of the increasing problems confronting the expanding capital. Unemployment was probably the greatest. Unless action is taken now, she predicated that one million could be looking for city jobs by the turn of the century. There was already great pressure on housing, too. About a hundred-and-sixty-thousand people -- nearly a third of the population -- currently live in unsatisfactory conditions.

After being officially sworn in, Miss Kenyatta said that the city authorities must take action in tackling the housing shortage, illegal shanties, improving education and health services.

Councillor Ngumba was elected Deputy-Mayor. He called for redoubled efforts to overcome shortages of resources and qualified personnel to improve living conditions in the capital.
