    The Duke of Edinburgh tried his hand at steering a radio controlled model ship into a replica of the new Great Yarmouth harbour being tested at the Hydraulic Research Establishment at Wallingford Berkshire, during his visit there on Monday 5th. May.

    The Establishment applies hydraulic principles, relating to water currents and errosion, to scale models of existing harbours and experiment with projects, in minature, for future constructions.

    Coloured agents, an abundance of water and wave-markers are the main 'tools' used by the Hydraulic Research Establishment.

    The Duke of Edinburgh was accompanied on his tour by Lord Hailsham, President of the Council, Sir Harry Jephcett, chairman of the Privy Council Committee for Scientific and Industrial Research, and Sir Harry Melville, the secretary.
