A tour of European capital by the Greek Prime Minister, Mr Constantine Karamanlis, who is seeking support for his country's entry to the European Economic Community, seems to be having some success.

SYNOPSIS: Mr. Karamanlis arrived in the Began capital of Brussels on Thursday (26 January) and the following day met with the President of the E.E.C., Mr. Roy Jerkins. Mr. Karamanlis had visited the United Kingdom prior to his visit to Brussels and it was reported that the British Prime Minister, Mr Jim Callaghan, reiterated Britain's support for Greece's entry to the Common Market.

Greece applied for full membership in June 1975 - less than a year after the collapse of the seven year military dictatorship, and formal negotiations began a year later. After the talks with Mr. Jerkins, top Common Market officials said it was possible Greece could be a member by 1981. Talks on Greek membership would begin on February the 10th and proposals on agriculture - the most difficult part of the negotiations would be submitted by the end of the northern summer.
