  • Description

In London this evening, President Julius Nyerere of Tanzania said that Southern Africa was the nearest thing, to the Jew-German problem under Hitler. President Nyerere was speaking at a press conference at London Airport before he left for the United States.

President Nyerere also said that supplying arms to South Africa would be equivalent to arming a murderer. South Africa, he added, was not really so much interested in obtaining arms as in getting a certificate of respectability from the nations of the world.

President Kaunda of Zambia is also due to visit Britain this week and he too is expected to press Mr. Heath, as president Nyerere has done, to reconsider the need to supply arms to South Africa.
