Mr. Joseph Sisco, United States Assistant Secretary of State for Middle-East affairs, met the Italian Foreign Minister, Signor Aido Moro, in Rome on Monday for discussions on the Middle East situation (November 12th). Mr. Sisco is on a tour of Europe to explain the background to the American-sponsored peace agreement which Israel and Egypt signed on Sunday.
Mr. Sisco had talks with Signor Moro and the Pope's Foreign Minister Signor Casaroli. Afterwards he said that he wanted to hear the Italian Government's point of view at such a crucial time.
SYNOPSIS: The Italian Foreign Ministry in Rome was the scene Monday's meeting between the United States diplomatic official Mr. Joseph Sisco and the Italian Foreign Minister, Signor Aldo Moro. Mr. Sisco, who is Assistant Secretary of State for Middle East Affairs, discussed the recent peace agreement between Egypt and Israel.
Mr. Sisco - in the centre - has been backing up the diplomatic activity of the main architect of the agreement, Secretary of State Dr. Henry Kissinger. He will be visiting other European countries, including France, the United Kingdom and West Germany.
Afterwards he said that he was happy to hear the Italian Government's views at such a crucial time.
