    There has been tight security at Colombo International airport for the arrival of delegates to attend the fifth Non-Aligned Summit Conference which opens on Monday (16 August).

    SYNOPSIS: Among the first of the Heads of State to arrive was President Josip Tito of Yugoslavia. Troops and police had cordoned off the entire airport as the Yugoslav leader, a founder member of the non-aligned movement, stepped from his plane with Madame Tito. Sri Lanka President, William Gopallawa, and the country's Prime Minister, Sirimavo Bandaranaike, were at the airport to meet them.

    After the initial words of welcome, President Tito went to the saluting base and took the salute before inspecting the Guard of Honour. The two Presidents, the Prime Minister and Madame Tito went to the airport's VIP lounge for cocktails before leaving in a motorcade for Colombo city.

    The Moslem delegates who arrived for the conference went to the Zahira Mosque in the city for the weekly Friday congregational prayers. Among them was Mohamed Yunus, special envoy of India's Prime Minister and a number of Arab delegates.
