SYNOPSIS: The students say the Roman Catholic college is going through an ideological and administrative crisis. They say the Chairmen was appointed in an undemocratic way; he introduced rules and regulations without consultation which should now be withdrawn. But the students are clear where their opposition lies. They stress their action in directed against the college or the church.

The students have prepared their protest carefully, down to the medical supplies they will need until their demands are met. There are no clear details of how many students are involved in the action, but the protesters say their ranks are growing.

The authorities are anxious to contain the protest. Bolivia is set to return to democracy later this year, with presidential elections after nearly 15 years of military rule.
