Background: President Nasser of the United Arab Republic, reported to be co-operating with Yugoslavia's Marshal Tito in forming a neutralist bloc of U.N. "buffer states" between East and West, visited Premier Castro of Cuba September 25 at the latter's hotel in Harlem, New York, USA.
After talks lasting an hour and forty minutes, the Cuban leader emerged from his hotel with his arm around President Nasser. They reportedly had covered a wide range of topics and agreed that their revolutions were similar.
Many muslims and members of the African nationalist movements cheered the two men as President Nasser entered his car and drove away for a second meeting with President Nkrumah of Ghana .. over lunch .. and to prepare to meet Indian Premier Nehru, reported to have been accepted by Nasser and Tito as leader of the neutralist "bridge". September 26 Nasser is scheduled for talks with President Eisenhower.
