    The Sudan, the biggest country in Africa, has celebrated the second anniversary of its 1969 revolution with parades through the streets and a speech by President Nimeiry. It was on May the 25th two years ago that the army seized power.

    The leaders of Libya and the Central African Republic, Presidents Gaddafi and Bokassa, and vice president Hussein El Shafei of Egypt, attended the celebrations.

    Later President Nimeiry addressed some 35,000 people at the Khartoum stadium.

    Since President Nimeiry came to power the Sudan has moved toward a federation with Libya, Syria and Egypt, but has not made a final decision on this.

    SYNOPSIS: The Sudan has celebrated the second anniversary of the Revolution in which the Army came to power. One of the highlights of the celebrations was a parade through the streets of the capital Khartoum.

    Since President Nimeiry came to power Sudan has entered into discussions about joining Egypt, Libya and Syria i an Arab Federation, but no decision has been made yet.

    Viewing the parade with President Nimeiry were President Bokassa of the Central African Republic and President Gaddafi of Libya. Vice President Hussein el Shafei of Egypt was also there. Later President Nimeiry told a crowd of 35,000 people at the Khartoum stadium that he fully backed Egypt's search for peace in the Middle east, but added that all Arab land must be returned. He said Sudan was putting all its resources at the disposal of the battle against Israel.
