South Vietnam has stated its second display of military might in less than a fortnight. On June 19th, it was Armed Forces Day, and President Thieu reviewed a two hour parade, of more than 10,000 men and machines. On Sunday (July 1) the occasion was Air Force Day, marked again by a show of strength. The parade was reviewed by Air Force Commander, General Tran Van Minh, who also awarded citations and medals of honour.
The displays came soon after the second Vietnam ceasefire agreement. Since then President Thieu said no-one could be naive enough to believe the enemy would honour the pact; He said South Vietnam would have to maintain and improve its military strength to force the aggressor to keep the agreement.
