Background: On Sunday 11-07-1971 the Eastgerman Motor-Cycle Grand Prix was held at the "Sachsen-Ring" near Hohenstein-Ernstthal near the Czechoslovakian-Eastgerman border. The Grand Prix, which is also a Worldchampionship Run, attracts large crowds of spectators, because a motor-cycle is the poor man's dream in Eastgermany - cars are extremely expensive there -. The traditional "sitting-poles" (selfmade high seat contaptions) were banned this year from the track, because during last year's race a pole collapsed, injured several people, one with a dangerous back-bone fracture is still in hospital. Film shows the 350cc and the 500cc races, both were won by Giacomo Agostini from Italy on MV Agusta, in the 350cc Agostini was raced by Phil Read from GB on Yamaha, but in the middle of the race Read's Yamaha broke down and Agostini finished without real competition. Thru Agostini's win in the 500cc race he has now 90 points in the Worldchampionship and nobody can take his title anymore.
