SYNOPSIS: In Cairo, eighty-thousand football fans packed a stadium to see the legendary skills of Pele and his Santos teammates.
National Club of Egypt, wearing the dark shirts, kicked off in the match against their illustrious visitors at the weekend.
Santos were swiftly on the attack and Pele, wearing the number ten shirt, was looking to increase his world record tally of goals. Here he tested the Egyptian goalkeeper with a header.
The second half -- and the Egyptians mounted a counter attack. Their defence had stood firm and the first half had been goalless.
Edu put Santos ahead from a free kick a few minutes into the second half.
Then Pele split the defence to score a characteristic goal -- the eleven-hundred and sixty-first of his career. He was later to add a second. At the other end, although the Egyptians created several clear chances, they were unable to score.
Santos went on to add two more goals to complete a convincing five-nil victory over their Egyptian opponents.
