Background: President Sekou Toure of Guinea arrived at Alamaza Airport, Cairo, May 8, to begin a seven-day State visit to the United Arab Republic at the invitation of President Nasser, who greeted him as he stepped from his aircraft.
Heading a 12-man delegation including the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Economy, and Interior, President Sekou Toure is expected to seek closer relations with the U.A.R.
Guinea and the U.A.R. are members of the Casablanca group - so-called because of the conference in Casablanca in January at which a number of aggressively nationalists resolutions were put. This group withdrew at the last minute from attending the conference of heads of independent African states which opened in Monrovia, Liberia, May 8. President Sekou Toure explained that the reason was the wide difference of opinion over the Congo. The other members of the group are Ghena, Mali, and Morocco.
