Background: Returning from a mission over North Vietnam January 6, 1968, two U.S. Air Force F-105 crewmen were forced to eject from their aircraft over Thailand. Two Air Force HH-3E "Jolly Green" rescue helicopters from Detachment 1, 37th Aerospace Rescue and Recovery Squadron, sped to the scene and picked up the two downed flyers. Within one hour after the rescue call came in the two flyers were safely aboard the rescue craft.

Rescued crewmembers were Major G.C. Gustafson (pilot) and Captain R. F. Brownlee (Co-pilot), assigned to the 355th Tactical Fighter Wing at Takhli, Thailand. Both men were picked up in good condition.

Footage shows pick up of Major Gustafson only.
