Mr. Qoboza was detained in October last year and imprisoned for four-and-a-half months for what were described as security reasons. At the time, the World newspaper was banned, and to date, this order has not been lifted. Another prominent Black leader was released from detention on Thursday (23 March). Dr. Nthato Motlana, Chairman of Soweto's Committee of Ten, was set free after more than five months in detention.
