Background: Archbishop Hilarion Capucci has returned to Rome after being freed on Sunday (6 November) from an Israeli prison where he had been serving a 12 year sentence for smuggling arms to Palestinian guerrillas. Tired and thin form repeated hunger strikes in jail, the Archbishop was set free following an appeal for clemency by Pope Paul to Israeli President Ephraim Katzir. During his first days of freedom, Archbishop Capucci has been very guarded in his comments about his imprisonment and release.
