  • Description

Recruiting centres set up by the anti-Castro Revolutionary Council in Miami, Florida, and elsewhere in the United States, have started openly signing up Cuban men and women for military action in their homeland. More than 1,000 recruits, whose ages ranged between 16 to 50, volunteered April 17 at two centres in Florida.

In groups of between 50 and 100, the Cuban volunteers are being taken to induction and training camps reported to be in the American South and Guatemala. There they are equipped with uniforms and arms before being flown to staging areas somewhere in the Caribbean.

The anti-Castro groups are said to be financed by dispossessed Cuban industrialists and landowners.
