  • Description

French Cabinet Ministers were leaving the Elysee Palace in Paris, Mar 15, after a meeting presided over by President de Gaulle.

A communique said: "The Minister in charge of Algerian Affairs - M. Louis Joxe - gave an account of Algerian development, both within and outside the territory. In the light of his report, the council confirmed its desire to see an official delegation engage in discussions concerning the conditions of self-determination by the Algerian communities as well as its related problems."
This is thought to confirm recent speculation that a meeting will soon be held with members of the Algerian Provisional Government, probably on the Franco-Swiss border. It is also known that police inspectors have been reconnoitring likely sites on Lake Geneva. A meeting in this locality would enable the Algerian emissaries to reside across the Swiss border and so avoid the alleged slights that caused the breakdown of the Melun negotiations last summer.

Meanwhile, the Algerian Provisional Government was also in session in Tunis, but with one of its members still absent in Morocco.
