Background: President Nixon discussed the Peoples Republic of China and table tennis Wednesday (April 21) with the head of the U. S. team that visited China last week.

Graham B. Steenhoven, president of the U. S. table tennis Association said Mr. Nixon let him know he "certainly will cooperate" in any way with Steenhoven's plan to bring Chinese players to the U. S.

Asked if Mr. Nixon would meet with the visiting Chinese, Steenhoven said if they wished to see the President, "then I'll ask the President to accommodate them."
The Americans asked to see Premier Chou En Lai and had a lengthy, friendly and informal session with him.

Steenhoven said the Chinese visit to the U. S. would be privately financed.
