On the fourth day of the Untied Nations Security Council debate on the Middle East, there have been calls for the U.N.'s Middle East Peace Envoy, Gunner Jarring, to resume his mission.
His peace-making efforts have reached deadlock at present.
Sudan's Foreign Minister, Mr. Mansour Khalid, who called for the resumption of the mission, also said a time limit should be set for the total withdrawal of Israeli troops from occupied Arab lands. Mr. Khalid was giving the Organisation of African Unity's views to the meeting.
During the debate, Britain and Israel cautioned the Security council against changing its British-initiated resolution of November 22, 1967, which established guidelines for a Middle East settlement.
