    A. "I think it can do something"



    Q. "How do you feel about going to Russia?"



    A. "If I did not have to go I would not."



    Q. "Do you hope to see Mr. Khrushchev?"



    A. "I will see him before I come back."



    Q. "Have you made any arrangement to see him"



    A. "I have asked to see him."



    Q. "Have you had any reply?"



    A. "He said he would help me."



    Q. "Did you know about the U-2 flight?"



    A. "No I did not."



    Q. "Would you approve if you did know?"



    A. "I would not approve."



    Q. "You have seen your son's alleged confession, what do feel about that?"



    A. "I have not had time to read it."



    Q. "Have you had any more letters from your son?"



    A. "I have had three letters."

    A. "Yes he does."

    A. "I will not reveal that."

Mrs. Powers - who has a very weak heart - was accompanied by her doctor.

    Soon after leaving the jet airliner Oliver Powers answered questions put to him by newsmen.

    Barabara Powers, 24-year-old wife of the U-2 pilot, is due to leave New York, Aug 12, for Moscow. She has delayed her trip in the hope that visas may be granted for her mother and several friends.
