    THE BRITISH PRIME MINISTER, MR. HAROLD WILSON, AND THE COMMONWEALTH RELATIONS SECRETARY, MR. BOTTOMLEY, LEFT FOR RHODESIA TODAY (SUNDAY) TO HAVE FURTHER DISCUSSIONS WITH THE RHODESIAN PRIME MINISTER,MR. SMITH, ON THE POLITICAL FUTURE OF THE AFRICAN COUNTRY.

    BEFORE LEAVING, THE PRIME MINISTER HELD A PRESS CONFERENCE AT LONDON AIRPORT WHEN HE OUTLINED THE PURPOSE OF THE TRIP.

    MR. WILSON OFFERED TO FLY TO RHODESIA TO CONTINUE DISCUSSIONS ON THE POLITICAL FUTURE OF RHODESIA AFTER SIMILAR DISCUSSIONS IN LONDON RECENTLY HAD PROVED FRUITLESS.

    THE RHODESIAN PRIME MINISTER HAS SAID HIS CABINET HAS ALREADY TAKEN A DECISION, BUT HE HAS NOT SAID IF THE DECISION INVOLVES IN UNILATERAL DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE WHICH THE RHODESIAN GOVERNMENT HAS THREATENED.

    MR. WILSON IS DUE IN SALISBURY TOMORROW EVENING (MONDAY).

    EARLIER TODAY MR. WILSON HAD A 15-MINUTE AUDIENCE WITH THE QUEEN. THE PRIME MINISTER'S VISIT FOLLOWS SHORTLY AFTER A ROUND OF DISCUSSIONS WITH MR. SMITH IN LONDON ENDED FRUITLESS.

    MR. WILSON AND MR. BOTTOMLEY ARE EXPECTED TO SPEND ABOUT A WEEK IN RHODESIA IN ATTEMPTING TO END THE DEAD DEADLOCK, AND AVERT A GRAVE SITUATION.
