    THE FEDERAL BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION HAS BEGUN A STUDY OF THE WRECKAGE OF A BAC III AIRCRAFT WHICH CRASHED YESTERDAY (FRIDAY) AT BLOSSBURG IN PENNSYLVANIA, KILLING ALL 34 PEOPLE ABOARD.

    THE AIRCRAFT, OWNED BY MOHAWK AIRWAYS, AN INTERNAL AMERICAN AIRLINE, WAS ON A FLIGHT FROM NEW YORK TO WASHINGTON. IT CRASHED SHORTLY AFTER TAKING OFF FROM ELMIRA, IN NEW YORK STATE.

    THE PLANE CRASHED IN HEAVY TIMBER. AN EYEWITNESS SAID THAT THE PLANE WAS IN FLAMES BEFORE IT CRASHED. ANOTHER MAN SAID THAT THE TAIL OF THE AIRCRAFT APPEARED TO FALL OFF JUST BEFORE THE AIRCRAFT PLUMMETED INTO THE TREES.
