Background: Arriving in Athens in a Viscount airliner, President Chamoun of the Lebanon and his wife were greeted at the Hellinikon Airport by King Paul and Queen Frederika of Greece.

The Lebanese President and his wife laid flown to Greece from Spain and their plane was escorted from the Greek coast to Athens by a flight of Greek jet fighters.

Also at the airport to greet the Presidential couple was the Greek Prime Minister, Mr. Karamanlis, together with the Archbishop of Athens and All Greece, Theoklytos.

After inspecting a guard-of-honour, the distinguished visitors and their royal hosts walked to the waiting cars and drove on the Herod Atticus Mansion where President Chamoun and his wife resided during their four-day stay in the Greek capital.

Next morning, the Lebanese President went to the tomb of the unknown soldier to lay a wreath on behalf of his countrymen.
