  • Description

The leader of an extremist rightwing organisation, Abu Arz, says he will not hand over arms to a Lebanese Government until the Syrian peace-keeping force and the Palestinians leave his country. This follows remarks from the premier-designate, Dr Selim Al-Hoss, that he hoped his new government would collect heavy weapons from all militia groups. Abu Arz, who heads the 'Guardians of the Cedars' said a weapons handover could only be possible if there was not danger threatening rightists.

AN EXTREME RIGHT-WING MILITIA LEADER TODAY ACCUSED THE UNITED STATES OF HELPING SYRIA AND THE PALESTINIANS GAIN CONTROL OF LEBANON IN ORDER TO RESOLVE THE MIDDLE EAST CONFLICT.

ETIENNE SAQR, CHIEF OF THE RADICAL +GUARDIANS OF THE CEDARS+, TOLD A PRESS CONFERENCE THAT U.S. POLICY WAS AIMED AT SETTLING THE PALESTINIANS IN LEBANON AND GIVING PART OF THE COUNTRY TO SYRIA AS COMPENSATION FOR TERRITORY OCCUPIED BY ISRAEL.

MR SAQR, BETTER KNOWN BY HIS NOM-DE-GUERRE ABU AR7, SAID THE AMERICANS WERE ALSO EASING IMMIGRATION CONTROLS TO ENCOURAGE MARONIE CHRISTIANS TO LEAVE LEBANON.

THE U.S. WANTS TO RESOLVE THE MIDDLE EAST CONFLICT BY GIVING OUR COUNTRY TO THE SYRIAN AND THE PALESTINIANS, BUT WE WILL FIGHT AGAINST THIS TREACHEROUS POLICY WITH ALL THE MEANS AT OUR DISPOSAL, +HE SAID.
