SYNOPSIS: Mouloudia were playing Hafia Conakry of Guinea in the final. Hafia had beaten Mouloudia three nil in the first leg of the final played in Conakry. Two Algerian players had been sent off in that match, and feeling was running high during their second encounter. Mouloudia attacking and in the 24th minute of the first half, they scored the first goal of the game through Bachi.
Tickets for the match were sold out a week before the stadium doors were opened to admit 73-thousand people. Midway through the second half, the Algerians knocked a second goal off their deficit when winger Betrouni scored. And then, just one minute from time, Benchiekh got the equaliser. He beat two Guinean defenders and shot. The goalkeeper could not block the ball, and it bounced off him into the net.
Now the game had to be decided on the best of five penalty kicks. Mouloudia score one goal and Hafia miss.
Mculoudia scored again giving them a two-nil lead. Hafia scored with their next try making it two-one.
Mouloudia scores again and it's all over bar the shouting. Hafia missed their last shot giving Mouloudia, the match and the African Champions' Cup.
