Background: President Frondizi of the Argentine Republic paid an official visit to the Vatican where he was presented to the Pope, June 18. The President is in Italy at the start of a European trip during which time he will visit eight countries, including Britain and France.
On arrival at the Vatican City he was received by the Pope John XXIII in private audience, before being joined by his wife and several members of his party, who were then presented.
Later President Frondizi went to the office of the Vatican's Secretary of State for private consultations, before returning to Rome by car.
While in Italy, the President has had discussions with the Italian Government. Next stop on his European tour is Switzerland. On July 7, he will leave London for Buenos Aires via Spain.
